GLBTQ Online High School is a college-prep high school committed to helping students achieve their academic goals. We offer a wide range of courses taught by highly qualified teachers, all of whom are dedicated to the unique needs of each individual student.
With the help of their advisor, each student develops an Individualized Learning Plan that describes the courses they will take and the pace at which they will complete them. Of course, if circumstances change, the advisor, student and family can choose to adjust the plan as necessary.
Our Teachers
GLBTQ Online High School hires only highly qualified teachers who genuinely want to work with GLBTQ students. We then provide focused and ongoing training to ensure every one of them has a comprehensive and growing background in GLBTQ youth issues, online education, and their own content area.

GLBTQ Studies Course
Together with FYI Online Learning, GLBTQ Online High School developed the first online course in GLBTQ Studies for high school students. This interdisciplinary course is now available to all schools and students nationwide. The course is designed for straight and glbtq students alike and aims to increase understanding of the glbtq populations. We are also offering adult sections of the course. The one-semester course will address such questions as:
- Who are glbtq people?
- What is it like to have a non-heterosexual or gender non-conforming identity in today's world?
- What are the major events in the modern histories of glbtq peoples?
- Who are the key figures and organizations in the history and movements of glbtq peoples?
- What are the major personal and political issues facing glbtq peoples today?
This course is offered every semester. Registration for classes starting in January will open November 1. Introductory Tuition Rate is $325 per person for the semester course. There are no additional fees. Contact the school for more information at info@glbtqonlinehighschool.com.

Graduation Requirements
GLBTQ works with both part-time and full-time students. Some students will want to take just a few classes, while others will want to take a full load and earn their diploma from us. We offer a full high school diploma and guarantee our credits and our diploma will be accepted by colleges and universities (although of course we can’t guarantee that any particular student will be accepted!).
For those that wish to earn their diploma students are required to complete 24 credits for graduation, including transfer credits. A student must earn a minimum of 6.0 credits from GLBTQ Online High School in order to earn a GLBTQ Online High School diploma. This work may be completed according to the pace set by the student’s Individualized Learning Plan.
One credit is defined as the equivalent of two semesters of a course. The credits must include the following:
4 credits of English language arts
3 credits of mathematics including Algebra II
3 credits of science including biology and a physical science
3 credits of social studies including U.S. and world history
3 credits of world languages
1 credit personal finance
0.5 credit GLBTQ Studies
1 credit health
1 credit physical education
Timing and pacing
Students can enroll and start their classes any day of the year. Each student can move at their own pace, based on the individualized learning plan developed with the GLBTQ Online High School advisor and the student's parent or guardian, if applicable.
